For more information on the Digests listed here, refer to the file
ARPANET SIGS on any NETSERV file server. The list is maintained by
Rich Zellich and Gligor Taskovich. Please note that addition to many
of these mailing lists will result in LARGE amounts of mail arriving
in your virtual reader. It is stronly suggested that you make sure
you are really interested in a particular digest before you request it.
Please send additions and corrections for the Digest list to
ZELLICH@SRI-NIC.ARPA.

Never Say Die...

...or Don't Give Up the Ship, or something to that affect. Last week I
complained that I didn't get much news, so this week virtual mailbox was
brimming with news. First of all you will probobly notice the much more
complete list of Digests and mailing lists. This is mostly the work of
Rich Zellich. A complete description of the lists is available from
any NETSERV fileserver. The file is named ARPANET SIGS and is maintained
by Gligor Taskovich. Thanks to Oren Yulevitch, Bernhard Dolderer,
Ken Arromde, and Gligor for the information.

The really big news...

If you took the time to look over the file servers section before flipping
down to the Bitnotes, you may notice that there is a new file server,
UH-INFO@UHUPVM1. UH-INFO is different from other file servers in that it
really contains two subservers, ACSNET (Academic Computing) and PSYCHNET
(Educational Psychology). Because of this the command syntax is a little
different from other file servers, so I'll list it here:

Valid ACSNET Server commands are:

ACSNET SENDME filename filetype (to obtain a file)
ACSNET INDEX (sends list of files in message format)
ACSNET INDEXF (sends list of files as a file)
ACSNET HELP (to list valid commands)

Valid PSYCHNET Server commands are:

PSYCHNET SENDME filename filetype (to obtain a file)
PSYCHNET INDEX (sends list of files in message format)
PSYCHNET INDEXF (sends list of files as a file)
PSYCHNET HELP (to list valid commands)

Thanks to Robert Morecock and P. Alagappan for the information.

/Links...

Life just isn't the same if I don't get some Realy announcements each week.
The two new ones are:

RELAY @ UWF - University of Western Florida
RELAY @ UWAVM - University of Washington

You can credit that news to Maynard Calkin and Dave Goldblatt.

Also, thanks to Bernhard Dolderer for the new addresses for the mail-based
info servers.

Before I go I would like to take this opportunity to wish my favorite niece
in the whole world, Rebecca Estelle Shaw, the happiest first birthday a little
girl could have...

Virtually;

Chris
(Fuzzyman)

Oh, yes. A message from 'Nico...

The server LFCNET@ICNUCEVM is collecting a data-base of USA TBBSs. Actually
they are stored in a file called AMERICAN B_BOARDS, but searches can be done
on it, using several keys (see the file TOPICS FILE for more info), selecting
so only the interesting ones (for example looking for a certain area code...).

Unfortunately most of the existing BBS are not yet listed on the file:
This is an appeal to everyone to supply such TBBS data. Everyone is requested
to send to LFCNET a list of known ones: please incude information like baud
rate, availability on the day/week, if the BBS is an access to a network...

This request is extended to European and other BITNET user: depending on the
availability of enough data, our purpose at LFCNET is to set up a comprehen-
sive free data-bank of TBBS in the world, up-to-date every time.

This goal can be reached only with the contribution of the TBBS users.
Please make sure you send your information to LFCNET@ICNUCEBM. Do NOT
send it to BITLIB@YALEVMX. TBBS announcements that arrive in Chris Condon's
virtual mail box will be thrown into the bit-bucket.

Thanks, Nico (LFCNET@ICNUCEVM).
